COVER REVEAL: Eleanor and Grey by Brittainy C Cherry

Eleanor & Grey, an all-new beautiful and emotional standalone from Brittainy C. Cherry is coming April 8th and we have the gorgeous cover for you!

BLURB:

Greyson East left his mark on me.

As the young girl who first fell for him, I didn’t know much about life. I did know about his smiles, though, and his laughs, and the strange way my stomach flipped when he was near.

Life was perfect…until it wasn’t, and when we were forced to go our separate ways, I held on to our memories, let go of my first crush, and wished for the day I’d find him again.

When my wish came true, it was nothing like I imagined.

I couldn’t have known when I took the nanny position that it would be his children I looked after, that my new boss would be that boy I used to know, that boy who was now a man—a cold, lonely, detached man.

The smile and laugh I had loved so much were gone, now distant memories. Every part of him was covered in a fresh pain.

When he realized who I was, he made me promise to do my job and my job only.

He made me promise not to try to get to know him, not to recall the memories I’d treasured all this time.

But, sometimes, I saw the boy I’d once known in his stormy eyes. I saw the Greyson who smiled and laughed, who had stolen a young girl’s heart, and there was no doubt in my mind that this boy was worth fighting for.

I was given a second chance with the one who’d left his mark on me. All I hoped was that somehow I’d leave a mark on his soul, too.

Synopsis:

Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again.

After fifteen years together, he walked away from me, and into the arms of another.

I didn’t know how to cope. I didn’t know my worth. I didn’t know how to exist without him by my side.

All I wanted was for him to come back to me.

Then, Jackson Emery appeared.

He was supposed to be a distraction for my mind. A summer fling. A confidence boost to my bruised heart.

We were perfect for one another, because we both knew we wouldn’t last. Jackson didn’t believe in commitment, and I no longer believed in love. He was too closed-off for me, and I was too damaged for him.

Everything was fine, until one night my heart skipped a beat.

I didn’t expect him to make me laugh. To make me think. To make my sadness somewhat disappear.

When our time was up, my heart didn’t know how to walk away.

Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again, yet slowly my prayers began to shift toward the man who wasn’t right for me.

I prayed for one more smile, one more kiss, one more laugh, one more touch…

I prayed for him to be mine.

Even though I knew his heart wasn’t destined to love.

Excerpt:

Jackson

“I’ve read about boys like you in books, ya know,” she whispered, her fingers slowly spinning spirals on my chest.

“Oh, yeah? What did those books teach you about boys like me?”

“Well…” She bit her bottom lip, and with a small inhalation, she whispered, “They taught me to stay away.”

“Then why are you so close?”

She tilted her head up, looking me straight in the eyes. “Because in those stories, the heroine never ever listens.”

“And then there’s trouble?” I asked.

“Yes, and then there’s trouble.”

From the way she said those words, I knew trouble was exactly what she was in search of. We were the classic cliché. She was the good girl next door, I the monster from around the block. We were perfect opposites for the perfect storm, and she was asking me to be her next flaw, her greatest mistake.

And, well, who was I not to live up to her request?

“I could destroy you,” I warned.

“Or save me.”

“Is it worth the risk?”

“Isn’t it always worth the risk?”

The more she touched me, the more I wanted to touch her back. I wrapped my hands around her wrists flipping us around so she was now against the wall with her hands above her head. “I have rules.” I leaned in closer, lightly brushing my lips against her neck. God, she smelled good, like peaches and my next sin. “You can’t break these rules, either.” My tongue rolled from my mouth and circled against her neck before I gently sucked her skin.

She shivered at my touch. “What are they?”

“Rule one,” I whispered, my mouth moving across her collarbone. “You never stay the night.”

“Check.”

“Rule number two,” I said, dropping her left arm to the side. Taking my hand to the bottom of her blouse, I slowly raised it up and massaged her skin. “You never develop feelings.”

“That’s easy enough,” she replied, her breaths uneven as I teased at the top button on her jeans. “I don’t believe in feelings anymore.”

I didn’t know why, but that made me sad for her. I, too, didn’t believe in falling for people, but that was my norm. Grace seemed the type to believe in something bigger than love, so the fact that her belief was completely gone was a bit surprising.

Maybe we had more in common than I thought.

“Rule number three…we don’t talk about my life.”

“Like ever?”

“Never.”

“Okay.”

“And lastly, rule number four…” My mouth brushed against hers, and I slid my tongue slowly across her bottom lip. “If your favorite pair of panties get ripped, don’t expect me to replace them.”

Blog tour: Behind The Bars by Brittainy C. Cherry

btbBook: Behind The Bars

Series: Music Street #1

Author: Brittainy C. Cherry

Main characters: Jasmine Greene, desperate for the love of her mother and even more desperate to sing the music she wants to sing. Elliott Adams, talented musician who more than anything, longs to be invisible.

Plot: Jasmine Greene first met Elliott Adams on a street corner, playing his music and giving it his all. When she sees him again at school, she’s convinced they’ll become great friends. He’s vulnerable, the object of ridicule amongst the other students, while she is popular, but she sees something in him that she recognises in herself: loneliness.
When they meet years later, neither one is the same person. Life has made them hard, where they were once soft and naive. Will the pair be able to find peace, or will their hearts forever be locked behind bars?

Why you should read it: I love Brittainy C. Cherry and the stories she tells. Her characters are always hugely flawed, incredibly interesting and slightly damaged. No exception here. The author told a tale of heartbreak, love and injustice. It was very touching and wove in musical elements beautifully. Jasmine just wants to be loved – she’d do anything to feel special to someone. Elliott takes care of others – until he becomes too damaged to do it anymore. His re-awakening to life is heartwarming to say the least.

What you may not like: I enjoyed the first half of the book more than the second. The second half in my opinion got a little bit over-dramatic and the language was so flowery and filled with musical metaphor after musical metaphor. It was beautiful, but I felt like I was being bashed over the head with it after a while. Also… Elliott – I loved him as an awkward teenager, but he grew up to be so cold I wanted to yell at him and shake him! There’s a lot of guilt in the book, so I got that he was guilt-ridden, but understanding him didn’t mean it endeared him to me.

Rating: Sweet, heart-wrenching and uplifting in many ways, I give Behind the Bars 3.5/5.

When I first met Jasmine Greene, she came in as raindrops.

I was the awkward musician, and she was the high school queen.

The only things we had in common were our music and our loneliness.

Something in her eyes told me her smile wasn’t always the truth.

Something in her voice gave me a hope I always wished to find.

And in a flash, she was gone.

Years later, she was standing in front of me on a street in New Orleans.

She was different, but so was I. Life made us colder. Harder. Isolated.

Caged.

Even though we were different, the broken pieces of me recognized the sadness in her.

Now she was back, and I wouldn’t make the mistake of letting her go again.

When I first met Jasmine Greene, she came in as raindrops.

When we met again, she was the darkest storm.

Blog tour: The Gravity of Us by Brittainy C. Cherry

img_0100Book: The Gravity of Us

Series: Elements #4

Author: Brittainy C. Cherry

Release date: 13 April 2017

Main characters: Lucille Palmer, free-spirited florist trying to keep her family together. Graham Russell, successful yet socially inept author, about to crash into Lucy’s world.

“Being around you does something strange to me, something that hasn’t happened in such a long time.”

“What happens?” He took my hand in his then led it to his chest, and his next words came out in a whisper. “My heart begins to beat again.”

Plot: When Lucy’s mother died, she told her to look after her sisters Mari and Lyric. Lucy took the request to heart and nursed her sister Mari back to health following a long illness and continued to reach out to Lyric, despite Lyric’s disdain for her and her cold nature. Despite a turbulent couple of years, Lucy and Mari are a good team and life finds some degree of normality. Until she meets Graham.

Graham Russell is a successful author. He enjoys a comfortable life without excessive emotions. His relationship with his wife is convenient and business-like. When she ups and leaves, Graham is left with a mountain of responsibility and a whole lot of emotions he isn’t able to cope with. His chance meeting with Lucy leads to a whole set of complications he could never have foreseen. His heart is locked up tight but Lucy may be the only one with the key…

Why you should read it: Oh my goodness. If my blurb above was a bit vague, it’s because I didn’t want to spoil anything for you. This story is so good and packed full of emotion and insight that I couldn’t really do it justice in the plot summary. How I loved these complex and spirited characters. Lucy is a saint! A good person through and through who puts up with a lot of crap from others because she loves them. Graham. Graham is tough – almost robotic when we first meet him. His reasons are more than valid and having his point of view really helps the reader understand his motivations and his experiences. His story is a sad one, but the possibility for a happier future keeps you rooting for him throughout.

What you may not like: There are some nasty characters in this book! Like, really horrible! I felt indignant on Lucy’s behalf. She shows kindness and gets kicked in the teeth repeatedly. I wanted to throw my kindle at the wall at times, but thankfully Brittainy doesn’t drag out the hard times. She always gives her characters some trials before getting to the ‘good stuff’.

Rating: 5/5 for a very sensitive, heart wrenching and intelligent read. I loved it and it made me want to punch somebody and hug somebody in equal measure! And my God, that cover *bites fist.*

The Silent Waters by Brittainy C. Cherry

TSWBook: The Silent Waters

Series: Elements #3

Author: Brittainy C. Cherry

Release date: September 22, 2016

Main characters: Maggie – once full of life and mischievous – after childhood trauma is silent and withdrawn. Brooks, her best friend and confidante, the only person who has ever fully understood her.

Plot: As a child, Maggie May Riley knew what she wanted. To be happy, she needed to marry Brooks Tyler, her stepbrother’s best friend. It didn’t matter that he was going through his ‘girls are yucky’ phase, she knew he loved her too. One afternoon, while waiting for him to meet her, an event took place that not only robbed her of her voice, but of her innocence.

Years later, Maggie is silent and suffers from agoraphobia. With a family that is struggling with the stress of her situation (and their own bitter resentments), she relies on Brooks. He seems to see into her soul and life is good when they’re together.

It is clear that the pair love each other madly – but what kind of life can they have unless Maggie exorcises her demons? Brooks is a talented musician with a career about to hit the stratosphere. Should she make him stay with her in her small life, or let him fly and realise his own dreams?

Why you should read it: I love, love, loved this book! I read it last night and have no idea why I didn’t pick it up sooner! Brittainy C. Cherry is so talented. I have read most of her other books and they are all high-quality and high drama (but not in a bad way) reads. It was an emotional roller-coaster of a story, starting from childhood into adulthood. I enjoyed the dynamic between Brooks and Maggie when they were younger, and then as they matured. What really came across was Maggie’s personality – she didn’t speak aloud, but from her point of view, you really got a sense of her struggle.

What you may not like: I don’t know – if you read it and don’t like it, let me know why because I adored it. A lot of things happen in the book, but at no point did it feel too much. It spans quite a long time so it felt right.

Rating: Easily a 5/5 for a spectacular read. I just want to re-read it now. Slower, so that I can enjoy every word.
