Blurb

She’s no princess. He’s no prince. Then again, they never wanted a fairy tale.

Cassie Allbright takes no prisoners. A half Cuban ball-busting attorney, she’s too tough to admit what she wants in bed. But tough is the only way to cut it in her high-powered firm, and Cassie doesn’t need a knight in shining armor. And she definitely doesn’t need Patrick Dunham – an arrogant, chauvinistic man-whore with a knack for pissing her off.

Bound to the helm of his family’s publishing house, Patrick is shackled to a life of power and wealth he never wanted. Seduction is his only distraction—his nights of pleasure always temporary, because happily-ever- afters are not for him. But while luring a woman into his bed has always come easy, the high-and- mighty Cassie has never succumbed to his charms.

Their verbal sparring turns to foreplay, but instead of scratching an itch, it only whets their appetites. Patrick gives Cassie a taste of what she’s secretly craved, and Cassie’s dark desires
stir up things Patrick never knew he wanted. Enchanted, he offers to fulfill her most dangerous fantasies. She agrees, with an iron-clad escape clause: her heart is off-limits, and so is his.

Funny thing about hearts, though. They have a way of ignoring the fine print.

Warning: This book isn’t for the faint of heart. Disclosure includes angry, vying-for- control hate sex and one steamy weekend in Miami. Ready? Break the caution tape and proceed.

Excerpt

“I’ve always loved your spitfire attitude.”

121F5BB3-0F58-49DE-BADA-3F25F1EE3B47Patrick’s voice cut through the night. Cassie stopped and whirled around. He was standing at the doorway to the bar, his arms crossed like a bouncer or a Greek god.

“Have you now?” Cassie cocked her brow and placed a hand on her hip. “Well, you’d love me in bed then. I’m a spitfire there too.”

The words popped out before she could stop them, but she didn’t regret it. For once, she wanted that bastard to know the chance he’d passed up. Because she might never have been in love and had dated some serious losers, but damn it she knew how to make a man moan.

Patrick dropped his hands to his sides and quickly closed the distance between them.

“Prove it,” he said.

“Prove what?”

“That you’re a spitfire in bed. Unless all you can do with that mouth of yours is talk.”

It took everything in her not to snarl. He was baiting her, seeing how pissed off he could get her, like he always did.

Screw the consequences. She’d had enough of his attitude. This time, she was calling his bluff.

Sex, Not Love by Vi Keeland

imageBook: Sex, Not Love

Author: Vi Keeland

Release date: 13 January 2018

Main characters: Natalia Rossi, unlucky in love and determined to steer clear of bad men. Hunter Delucia, friend-of-a-friend and determined to get under Nat’s skin.

Plot: Natalia Rossi hasn’t been very lucky in matters of the heart. She’s not 30 yet, but she’s divorced and looking after her adolescent step-daughter. She simply can’t afford to get her love life wrong again.

At her best friend’s wedding, she meets Hunter Delucia and he seems on a mission to give Nat a good time. She’s not having it. He’s completely her type: cocky, so so handsome and bad news. Nope, she’s not going there.
It’s quite a surprise then when she wakes up the morning after wondering how she ended up next to the delicious Mr Delucia – another case of bad judgement? She leaves a fake number and thinks she’s managed to outwit him. She clearly underestimated the lengths he’ll go to in his pursuit of her and neither one can foresee where the chase will lead them…

Why you should read it: This was such an enjoyable read! Vi Keeland just gets better and better! The premise, the characters, the crisis of the story – all great and it tugged at my heartstrings in places. The pair bantered like champs and the sexual chemistry was so so so hot, I can’t even tell you. I believed in both characters and understood why they were the way they were. They weren’t whiny and both had bonafide reasons for not wanting to launch into a relationship.

What you may not like: Hunter is crass and says what’s on his mind – for the most part. You’ll either love or hate his dirty mouth. He has depth though and I enjoyed learning more about him and his family.

Rating: 5/5 for a funny, sweet and oh-so sexy read. I devoured it!

Mr North by Callie Hart

img_0131Book: Mr North

Author: Callie Hart

Release date: 16 November 2017

Main characters: Beth Dreymon, law student whose life is about to change dramatically. Raphael North, reclusive yet successful tech genius with myriad secrets.

Plot: Beth Dreymon is in the final stages of her law degree but the debt she’s in has her desperate to make ends meet. When her friend Thalia suggests a gig playing chess with a client once a week for quite a lot of money, it sounds too good to be true to Beth. She’s right. The client in question is Raphael North, tall dark and foreboding. He’s intense, strange and inappropriate and before long, it seems he not only wants to figure out her chess strategy but what lies beneath her façade too.

Raphael is complex and at first glance, irritated by Beth. After a series of strange chess appointments, he makes his play clear. He wants Beth. No matter what the cost…

Why you should read it: As much as I roll my eyes occasionally at the whole billionaire trope, it’s one I like to come back to once in a while. It’s very seductive: a young, rich man who’s tough and brash on the outside, hiding sensitivity and vulnerability on the inside. What’s not to like? I enjoyed the story because there was plenty of intrigue going on in the background. Callie Hart took the time to flesh out the characters and the plot rather than skipping straight to sexy time. So there is a powerful and dramatic story weaved into the main action.

What you may not like: As I said, if you’re not a fan of billionaires with baggage, this one may not be for you. I liked that Beth was battling her own issues and not ready to give into Raphael’s idiosyncrasies. She had moxie and I enjoyed her character’s evolution throughout the story. Raphael was an odd duck – but an incredibly sexy one!

Rating: 4/5 for a surprising and very, very sexy story. It’s seriously hot and I thought we’ll paced.

Release blitz: Thirty Day Boyfriend by Whitney G

Woo hoo! Today’s the day! Thirty Day Boyfriend is LIVE!

Synopsis

I should’ve never agreed to this arrangement…

Thirty days ago, my boss – Mr. Wolf of Wall Street,  came to me with an offer I couldn’t refuse: Sign my name on the dotted line and pretend to be his fiancée for one month. If I agreed, he would let me out of my employment contract with a “very generous” severance package.

The rules were pretty simple: No intimate kissing, no actual sex. Just pretend to love each other for the press, even though I’ve secretly wanted to knock that sexy smirk off his face since the first day we met.

I definitely didn’t need to think twice about this. I signed my name and started counting down the seconds to when I would never have to deal with his special brand of ass-holery again.

I only made it to one minute…

We argued the entire four-hour flight to his hometown, failed to make a convincing impression with the welcoming press, and right when I was about to knock that arrogant look off his face in real life? He purposely dropped his bath towel in front of me, distracting me with his nine-inch cock to “show me who the bigger person was” in our relationship. Then he gave me his trademark smirk once again and asked if I wanted to consummate our marriage.

Tragically, this is only day one.

We still have 29 more days to go…

Move The Stars by Jessica Hawkins

img_0128Book: Move The Stars

Series: Something in the Way #3

Author: Jessica Hawkins

Release date: 23 October 2017

Main characters: Lake Kaplan, Manning Sutter.

***Contains spoilers from book 2 – read series in order.***

Plot: Four years after having her heart broken, (when the man she loved married her sister) Lake is stunned when she comes face-to-face with Manning. He’s come to check on her and when he learns that her situation is less than perfect, he realises he made a colossal mistake and intends to rectify it.

Lake may be penniless and struggling without her family’s support, but she’s free and pursuing the career she always wanted. Seeing Manning again after so long threatens to undo all the progress she’s made – but she’s determined to stay strong.

Their feelings for each other, rather than diminishing over the years, have intensified and soon their passion boils over, possibly destroying everything in its path.

IMG_0130Why you should read it: This trilogy has been one hell of a ride. The ups the downs, the angst and the passion – it’s pretty epic. I liked book 1 a lot for its masterful storytelling. Book 2 made me want to throw my kindle and slap Manning and Lake at times. In book 3, I was firmly in Lake and Manning’s corner – infidelity be damned! The story was tight, deliciously passionate (seriously so, so hot!) and still there were surprises along the way. I also liked that not everything was wrapped up in a neat little bow at the end. Jessica Hawkins always manages to weave her stories with a strong sense of realism and consequences for the characters’ actions.

What you may not like: There is cheating – not going to lie and I know how some of you hate that, but it’s fictional so come on!

Rating: 5/5 for a satisfying conclusion to an epic love story. I could not put it down and really didn’t think I could warm up to Lake and Manning as much as I did.

The Red by Tiffany Reisz

Back view of a woman is draped in a red sheet. Book: The Red

Author: Tiffany Reisz (writing as Nora Sutherlin)

Series: a standalone

Genre: Erotica, fantasy

Release date: 11 July 2017

Main characters: Mona St James, owner of The Red, a gallery that is failing. Malcolm, an enigmatic stranger who can solve her problems…

Plot: Mona Lisa St James is in dire financial straits. Having inherited a failing gallery, The Red, she is bound to keeping it open no matter what it takes. She made the promise to her mother on her death bed, so there’s no getting out of it. Just as she’s about to despair, Malcolm appears, seemingly from nowhere and makes her an offer she can’t seem to refuse.

The deal is simple: for one year, she will be his. Nothing is taboo. In return, she’ll receive the means to keep the gallery afloat. Simple. Thus begins a thrilling and magical ride, which both excites Mona and makes her fear for her sanity. When it becomes clear that she has lost control not only over her body, but perhaps her mind too, she wonders exactly with whom she has made this bargain…could it be the devil himself?

Why you should read it: it’s Tiffany Reisz people, come on! Plus, it’s the book Nora was writing in the Original Sinners series, which is a pretty cool idea, not something you read every day. The writing was of course smart and engaging. It weaved in works of art impeccably and it totally captivated me. I enjoyed looking up the art pieces while I read – as I am no art buff. Then there’s the sex. The book is filled with sex. Oceans of sex. Battalions of sex. There’s something in there for everyone.

What you may not like: This book is weird. I know the author won’t mind me saying that – she’d probably agree! It starts off fairly normally and lulls you into a false sense of security. I thought I knew what I’d be getting. I didn’t. If this book were the Beatles, it starts off all Please, please me and is sexy and fun and then, bam – halfway in it becomes full on Sgt Peppers. There is a  satyr, (which is different to a centaur, but don’t ask me why) nymphs, a half-man, half-beast. It gets pretty trippy, which may or may not be to your taste. I enjoyed some chapters more than others I’ll confess.

Rating: 3.5/5 for the premise. It was original and I enjoyed the different scenarios each chapter evoked. It’s fantasy erotica, so I’d advise you to just go with the flow and enjoy the depravity and decadence!

Where I Belong by Molly O’Keefe

MOWhereIBelongBookCover6x9_HIGHBook: Where I Belong

Series: The Debt #3

Author: Molly O’Keefe

Release date: 26 June 2017

Main characters: Beth Renshaw, pop star on the run with her first love, Tommy MacNeill.

Plot: Beth and Tommy have run into grave danger and it feels as though the net is closing in. Desperate to get off the grid and further away from Beth’s mother and Bates’s thugs, Beth takes them to the safest place she knows.
The remoteness of the location means that Tommy has more time with Beth – which is a problem as they are supposed to be going their separate ways, not falling deeper for each other. After finding each other seven years later, will they be able to break both their hearts and separate again? They may not have a choice…

Why you should read it: Oh my! This book! It picked up where Lost Without You left off. The action was fast-paced and the dual points of view kept you in the action and gave the reader an insight into Tommy and Beth’s personal turmoil. The characters really developed in this book and I felt for them. I was on the edge of my seat at times and I wasn’t disappointed. At the end, I wanted more and can’t wait to find out what happens next for the other St Jude inmates.

WHERE_nowlive

What you may not like: Not a clue! The characters were well written, the story was well paced and it was hot as hell! I don’t know what there was to hate on.

Rating: 5/5 for a heartpumping, sexy read. I loved the twists and turns and the unravelling secrets.

Beg For it by Megan Hart

img_3193

Book: Beg For it

Author: Megan Hart

Release date: 14 June 2016

Main characters: Corinne Barton Levy, (heroine with a dominant streak) Reese Ebersole, hero and submissive in a former life).

Blurb: He’s gonna have to beg for it…
Corinne was young once. She did everything—girls, boys, drugs, toys—and did it in high funky fashion. Reese wasn’t her first lover, but he was the first to submit to her. For a while they had something special, but it ended badly.

She’s a little older now. And the wealthy businessman who just bought the company she works for bears little resemblance to that boy. He’s commanding, domineering, and seems hell-bent on pushing her past her limits.

In a flash of anger, she falls back into their old pattern—and Reese falls right in with her. Before she knows it, she’s testing him. Then tasting him. But she can’t afford to get involved again. Her life is complicated enough without throwing in a slew of kink.

Now if only Reese would stop making her feel like the goddess she used to be…and showing her who’s been the boss all along. Then…and now.

Why you should read it: This is a delightful quick read. I love the whole domme-sub dynamic, as you so rarely read a book where the woman is in charge. This story had it all – which is what I expect from an experienced author like Megan Hart. Corinne and Reese are a couple with a past, and through a great narrative, you find out exactly how their relationship evolved and then deteriorated. I loved them and I loved this book. As women, we’re often taught to put everyone else first and ignore our own needs. I loved the fact that Corinne is in touch with her needs, despite putting them on the back burner for so long.

What you may not enjoy: I can’t imagine (and you know I like to play devil’s advocate when reviewing) – it was short, (read it in a few hours by the pool) satisfying and oh so sexy.

Rating: 5/5 for another accomplished read by Ms Hart. Let’s have more smart domme-sub books please!

Her Halloween Treat by Tiffany Reisz

Book: Her Halloween Treat

Series: Men at Work #1

Author: Tiffany Reisz

Release date: 20 September 2016

Main characters: Joey Silvia (recently-wronged and heartbroken heroine, Chris Steffensen, hero and old friend of Joey’s.)

Plot: Joey Silva has just found out that her boyfriend of two years is in fact married. On that bombshell she gets out of dodge to attend her brother’s wedding in Oregon. The change is a welcome one. She loves her life in Hawaii – (who wouldn’t?) but the chance to return to her family and evaluate where things went so wrong, could be just what she needs.

Her friend Kira’s parting advice is to get busy with the first eligible guy she sees. Forget that louse of an ex. In a small retirement town, Joey’s unconvinced but she didn’t count on seeing Chris again. Chris Steffensen was her brother’s best friend growing up. And my, has he grown up. The Nirvana-loving, weed-smoking guy from her youth is gone. In his place is a tall, fit and talented builder.

The pair grow closer, both knowing that their fun has a shelf life. In two weeks, Joey will return to her life in Hawaii. Chris understands that but never backs away from a challenge. He has two weeks to show Joey that everything she needs is right under her nose.

Why you should read it: Because it’s written by Tiffany Reisz, that’s why! You always get something a bit different, seriously entertaining and sexy as hell with her books. This book for Harlequin Blaze was no exception – Joey and Chris have some great chemistry and I loved them as a potential couple. Joey is sweet, fun and trying to do the right thing. She has a battle going on between her heart and her head. Chris is oh so hot. A man that could renovate a house from scratch is a catch! Do you know how hard it is to find a contractor who not only won’t rip you off, but would give you multiple orgasms too? (Really hard!)

What you might not like: Nada – it was a sweet, quick read, set in what must be a beautiful part of the world  – so vivid, I could picture it. I loved both the hero and heroine, which these days is pretty rare for me! Chris has alpha tendencies, but this in no way becomes his dominant character trait. It was smart, it was funny and I can’t wait to read more from the series.

Rating: 5/5 – grab a copy and a fan. You’ll need it!

The Empire State series by Louise Bay

Picture1

Series: The Empire State series

Author: Louise Bay

Genre: Erotic romance

Basic plot: Anna Kirby is done with love and the constant disappointment of relationships with losers. The last one nearly got her seriously hurt. As she heads off for a week in New York with her best friend Leah, she’s determined to get her mojo back and forget about the opposite sex.

Fate (and Ethan Scott) seems to have different ideas about how Anna should spend her week in New York, however. Habitual playboy Ethan, is the leave-them-satisfied, yet-wanting-more, kind of guy. He spots Anna and is keen to spend an evening with her. When one evening turns into a lunch date, which leads to them spending a week together, Ethan keeps waiting to get her out of his system.

What I loved: The series deals with their relationship together and also on opposite sides of the Atlantic. I devoured all three books. They were sexy, funny and very touching. Neither character has a good track record with relationships, so watching them feel their way through the choppy waters of attraction, then love, was very engaging.

I loved their dynamic – there are PLENTY of sexy times in the book. Many, but at no point did I think it was too much, as the story moved along at a decent pace. I cared about them as a couple and I think you will too.

I now intend to devour EVERYTHING Louise Bay has ever written. She was recommended to me by my good friend Jessica Hawkins, and she never steers me wrong!

Take a chance on this series – book 1 is currently free.
