Series: Sin Duet #1
Authors: Nana Malone, Minx Malone
Release date: 29th May 2018
Main characters: Matthias, mysterious young man and a deadly genius. ‘Gemma’, seemingly a damsel in distress, but who is she really?
Matthias’s middle name might as well be ‘mystery’ because not only can he hack into just about anywhere, he’s also very good at handling himself and those he cares about. In fact, he’s pretty deadly.
He tries not to let his past dominate him and stays focused on his life now with his colleagues, who are a second family to him. It’s his job to keep everyone safe and that’s exactly what he intends to do.
When Gemma walks into his life, beaten and bruised, he springs into action. Something about her awakens and amplifies his protective instincts. So much so, that he doesn’t think he’ll be able to let her go when she heals.
Gemma Boyd has a mission – get in, get the target, get out. Only, once she’s in, she’s not sure she wants to get out…
Why you should read it: Wow! What an intriguing and sexy read! Matthias is complicated – full of fury and in many ways, he hasn’t fully developed as an adult. Inside his head is pretty scary, but the way in which he tries to keep his demons at bay, will wrench at your heart. He could have had a completely different life, but for a run of bad luck. There’s plenty of testosterone flying around in the book, and if you’ve the Shameless series, you’ll be familiar with Matthias’s friends. They’re all extremely manly and capable and you wouldn’t mess with them!
What you may not like: This is a duet and it’s very exciting, but being left hanging on a particularly steep cliff is not every reader’s favourite thing. My advice? Binge read the entire duet once it releases! (Only because I loathe waiting for books!) Besides the waiting, (it’s really not a massive wait, only a week or so) there was nothing I didn’t enjoy about this book. It has a virgin, virile male, who’s very complex but does have feelings beneath the depths. Gemma’s backstory will grip you and you’ll enjoy the push-pull dynamic they have.
Rating: 5/5 for an exciting read – I want more and I want it NOW!
