Author: Alessandra Torre

Release date: 16 January, 2017

Main characters: Kate Martin, Creative director, tasked with turning around Marks Lingerie’s fortunes. Trey Marks – CEO of Marks Lingerie and soon-to-be driven to distraction by his Creative director.

Plot: Kate Martin needs a new job. She knows she’d be perfect for the new role of CD at Marks Lingerie – she just needs to convince Trey Marks that he can’t afford not to hire her.

Trey has spent all of his resources making his business thrive – since the departure of his co-founder, he’s been struggling to keep on-trend. When Kate enters his world, he’s impressed with her business acumen, but also on a personal level. If experience has taught him anything though, it’s not to blur the lines between business and pleasure. Thankfully she’s not single…

So begins a strong professional relationship and an even closer friendship. The pair grows closer and closer, acknowledging the mutual attraction, but not prepared to jeopardise their business or their friendship – but how long can that last?

Why you should read it: Oh my – you may know that I love a slow-burner, but this book re-wrote the definition of slow-burner! Most of the story is anticipation and delayed gratification, but also gives the characters room to get to know each other. I enjoyed their exchanges and every day situations. I really believed in these characters and the dual pov, was seamless. There were complications along the way, but not too much drama. The dialogue was spot on and kept me reading throughout the night.

What you may not like: If you like your romantic payoff to be delivered quickly, then this book may well frustrate the heck out of you. Other than that – I have no idea!

Rating: Easy peasy. 5/5 – I’d give it more if I could. Alessandra Torre has done it again. I didn’t think I could like her any more than I already did after Hollywood Dirt, but you know what? I’m happy to be wrong!
