Hi – me again. It’s day one of Amanda Lance’s new release Trapped. I was fortunate enough to read this while on holiday and it was so gripping! So I’m really excited to share this one with you. If you’re looking for something a bit different from the norm, look no further…
Author: Amanda Lance
Release date: 28 October
Publisher: The Wild Rose Press
Jack cracked his knuckles, clearly unprepared for what he wanted to say. “I—I don’t want to get attached to you. I can’t stand the idea of missing you when you go.”
Plot: When Aubrey Kent joined her news team on an assignment somewhere near the Canadian border, she could not have foreseen the disastrous consequences. Following a helicopter crash which killed all aboard, Aubrey’s own survival hangs in the balance.
Pulled from the wreckage by the surly and secretive Jack, Aubrey doesn’t know whether to thank him or fear him. She is his captive and seems unable to reach the man behind the secrets. As time passes, she learns that some secrets are better left buried…
Why you should read it: This book was so refreshing! Its pacing was perfect and the evolving relationship was compelling and natural. It wasn’t rushed and it didn’t drag either. The characters were also very complex.
Aubrey has that fearlessness of youth and she doesn’t stop pushing Jack in order to get to know him. At times I was worried for her, but seeing her melt his cold exterior was great too. Jack is all prickles but he has reason to be – he wasn’t always that way so it was interesting to learn his back story and precisely how he ended up where he was.
What you might not like: Well, this isn’t your typical read. The author tried to stay as realistic as possible and that may not satisfy romantic purists. I totally enjoyed the story and was left feeling optimistic for their future.
Rating: Without a doubt, 5/5 for me – thoroughly entertaining and exciting. Every page was a winner!
